Kade's First Combine

Kade has decided that he wants to play flag football this Fall (instead of Fall baseball). So we went and got him all signed up with the Upward Football league through the Baptist church here in town. On Tuesday, they had a "skills assessment" in order to be able to put all of the players into a draft system (to try to ensure that the teams would be ability equal.)

Keith and I were joking that this would be Kade's first combine. And if this is any indication of how he MAY do later in life, then Kade will be set to enter the draft in about 17 years!!!

Of course, being the photo-mom that I am, I think I took about 50 photos of him working out. First he had three attempts to throw a football through the center of an inner tube.
He hit the center, hit the tube, and just hit the blue tarp. Ending with a total score of 14.

Then he had to run a shuttle run for time.
Then there was another zigzag pattern run for time...
Then he had five attempts to run in a straight line while catching a ball thrown to him. He caught 4 out of 5!!
Then he ran a 30-yard dash. I was most impressed with his three point stance!!
(On a side note, it just so happened that on Saturday night, Caton was teaching Kade and Weslie the proper three point stance technique. Nice to see that Kade remembered it!!!)

Then he had three attempts to throw a football as far as he could.
He ended with a score of 33 feet.

The last station was a run through a weave pattern for time.
And it just so happened that one of Caton's players was helping with the timing!!! Bobby is our star running back!!!

Kade ended with what we think are some pretty impressive numbers for a 5 year old!!!
Now we wait for his coach to call....and any scholarship/NFL offers that might roll in :0)
