A Day on a Farm

Everyday, on the local noon-day show, they showcase different happenings going on around our area. It just so happened that the one day that Kade decided to pay attention to that show...they were showcasing some farm animals that would be on display at a nearby farm. On the show they said over and over, "Come out and hold a baby chick!" as they held up a 3-day old chick.

Kade took one look at that chick...and he was in love. He talked non-stop about going to the farm and holding a chick. Literally, it was all he could talk about. So after talking with Caton...we decided to take the kids to the farm.

The only thing Kade wanted to do was hold a dang chick. But I made him endure some of the other activities first.

These calves were 3 days old. The one in the pic was moo-ing so loud!! It was kinda sad. The farmer was telling us that the babies are never allowed to nurse from their mommas...they are taken away immediately after birth and bottle-fed with their mother's milk. I can only imagine that the calf was moo-ing to get his Mommy to come and rescue him....
...but he was really, really cute.

The kids each got their faces painted...
...and we made "plastic-bag ice cream."
This is what Kole did while we shopped the vegetables at the farmer's market...
And finally, we found the chicks!!! But this was as close as Kade got to holding one...
I just thought this pic was precious...
And this little spaz literally chased us away from the hen house...crazy-ass chicken!!!
We only ended up staying for about an hour or so due to how hot it was. But all in all, I think everyone had a great time!!!
