Caton and I are beginning to get really involved with the local Fellowship of Christian Athlete's (FCA) chapter here at MIZZOU. I had never realized all the wonderful support that they lend our student-athletes, and to the community as a whole.
We were approached by the President of the chapter and asked if we would like to attend the upcoming "Coaches' Time Out" conference in St. Louis...all expenses paid. Its a conference for active coaches and their spouses to come together to "engage, equip and encourage coaching couples so that they have a more intentional approach as positive role models and influential mentors in the lives of young athletes."
Upon looking into what the conference is all about...we jumped at the chance. To be able to take a weekend, just Caton and I, to go and learn more about how we can cultivate the spiritual and character development of, not only each other, but the athletes that Caton works with is truly exciting.
Especially in the times we live in now...having an organization that is committed to seeing that the next generation is spiritually sound and that they have sound adults to turn to for advice and mentorship is amazing.
Caton and I are truly humbled that we have been chosen to take on this endeavor. We are feeling that maybe we are being used for some bigger good. Because at first it was looking like we werent going to be able to go...things just werent going to work out. Then little by little...arrangements fell into place, sitters were able to help out (being that its going to be a weekend long event), and we felt like we were just supposed to go.
And that feeling is the most amazing part about it.
