"First Steps"

No...Weslie isnt walking!!!

We were notified today that Weslie has qualified for the Missouri First Steps program. This is an early intervention program that will give Weslie the on-going occupational therapy that she needs to get that hand to move correctly.

Yes, we have been going to an OT already...but that OT was through our insurance. And with that Weslie can only get 20 visits a year (at $25 a pop). With the First Steps program, it doesnt count on our insurance...and costs considerably less per month. So she can continue with the OT for the remainder of the year, and we dont have to be worried that our visit number is going to run out.

This is such a blessing...as it took some serious investigation (like compiling all the diagnoses from all of Weslie's doctors) to get her qualified. But she IS!!! We are so excited. We will sit down with the rep from First Steps here within the next week and come up with a plan of action (complete with short and long term goals for Weslie), then we will be able to choose the OT that we want to work with...and we will begin from there.

Yeah...another score for Team Wes!!!

You will love this program. We offer it in the NICU and our parents love it!

Yeah!! I think Georgia has a program like that (if it's not the same one) and I've heard good things about it!

Go Wes!
