Big Brother Class

Last night, Keith and I took Kade to a Big Brother Class at Boone Hospital. He was by far the youngest sibling in the class...but did a great job listening and following directions. At first, the teacher handed out some snacks and juice (Kade loved that part) and had a video for the siblings to watch. It was all about being a big brother or big sister. Kade watched most of it...and sat in the floor with the other kids while eating their snacks.

Then, they got in a circle and talked about all the parts of a new baby (the belly button falling off and all) and how to hold a new baby.

Here they are in their circle...
...then the teacher gave each sibling their own baby to practice holding. Kade sat on the floor with his leg criss-crossed and held his baby very gently...
..."Daddy, where is your baby?" Kade had to have Keith hold a baby too!!!

"Here is the baby's belly button!" That part was really funny to Kade!!!

...Keith and Kade fiving on how great Kade did holding his baby...

After holding the babies, we got to walk down to the nursery and see a newborn baby boy. Kade was amazed. Then the teacher actually held up a baby (born on the 7th) and showed the siblings all about him. Kade's eyes were huge the whole time...then as the teacher was leaving with the baby, Kade said, "Bye bye baby!"

After that, we went back to the classroom and all the siblings received a tee shirt, a coloring book, and some stickers. They also gave the parents some handouts about preparing the older sibling for the arrival of the new baby.

All in all, it was an okay class...I dont know how much Kade actually got out of it...but he did get a snack!!!

Such a cute blog! I love the concept, though! The picture of him poking the little belly button made me laugh!
