This morning we took Kade in to finally get a tonsillectomy. After years and years of dealing with strep throat after strep throat, our ENT decided it was time. So we headed to the surgery center to get t done.
Overall Kade was a champ. He got scared for a minute when he had to change into the gown. I think at that time it set in that it was really gonna happen. But soon the doc came to talk to us and we found out that the anesthesiologist was one of the football coaches' wives. So that made us and Kade feel alittle more comforted that we/he knew someone that was going into the operating room with him.
It took about 30 minutes and Dr. Holland came out to tell us that everything went great! He said that one of Kade's tonsils was so infected that it had adhered to the muscle behind it. So he was pretty confident that there was an infection going on.
We met Kade in the recovery area and waited for him to be ok enough for us to go home. We stopped and got his prescriptions filled then headed home for the rest of the afternoon. Kade did great! He got alittle nauseated on the ride home but other than that he has been a champ. He has eaten a lot of icecream and if doing well so far!
We will have to see how this affects his sickness and/or his tastebuds. We are anxious to see if this will open up some more food choices for him!!
