Its the little things that we take for granted.
This statement has never rang truer than watching Weslie struggle to do the simple things with her right hand. Even though she has made HUGE strides over the course of the last year (since her diagnosis) she still has a long way to go.
And I think that we as her parents may overlook just how far she has come...and how far she still has to go. Little things like picking up a Cheerio or Goldfish and putting it in her mouth...or holding her juice cup...or giving a high five (all with her right hand) have been accomplished over the last year.
But today was another HUGE milestone.
Weslie's OT went to her daycare today to have an OT session....and Kim called my to let me know that Weslie pointed with her right hand!!! And not only once, but a few times!!!
She pointed!!! She actually made a fist and stuck her small little finger out and pointed to something!!!
Its such a small movement...but such an enormous accomplishment for Weslie. And its something, that a year ago, we though may never be possible!!!
It's the little things that we take for granted...but its in those little things that we find the most joy.
