Neurology

Weslie had a neurology appointment this morning. Her doctor is very excited about how she is looking...and how she is opening her hand. In fact, that was the first thing he noticed, "She is really using that thumb...opening it up!"

He checked a few of her reflexes...and said that she is looking great. Then he looked in her chart and told us that they had run pretty much all the tests that they needed/wanted to run at this point. And with them all coming back normal/negative...there still really isnt a concrete reason as to why the stroke happened in the first place.

We asked if we needed to be concerned with another one happening in the future. And while he wouldnt say, "No, you dont need to worry about it NEVER happening again," he did say that he wasnt concerned with another one happening....but that we still did need to watch for any signs of seizure as she continues to grow. And he did say that continuing OT/PT is going to be very helpful.

Caton did ask about the possibility of this all happening again if we were to have another baby. The doc said that while he couldnt say with certainty that it wouldnt happen again...since we dont really know what caused Weslie's stroke...but that he has never seen two kids in the same family with these kinds of strokes (where there wasnt any cause - like genetically or disorder of the blood.)

So I guess we are cleared for another baby ;-)...not that we are trying or anything!!!

Other than that...the doc said that he doesnt need to see her back for 6 months!!!
