Once in KC, we went and bought our tickets to the exhibit (as they only let 95 people in every 15 minutes). Then we went and had lunch in a little diner in Union Station. (Union Station is an old train station that has been converted into restaurants, shops, and exhibition halls.)
At 2, we entered the exhibit. It was AMAZING!!!! They actually use a process to "plasticize" the bodies of the models. We got to touch a plasticized stomach at the end, and it really did feel like plastic....just like a plastic ball - really freaky!!!
But they had all different bodies on display...detailing different systems within the body. And there were many different organs on display...even some showing diseases and cancers that can attack those organs.

At the end, they featured the reproductive systems. This was my favorite part. They had small fetuses (that had all passed away due to complications). But these fetuses started at about 4 weeks and got progressively bigger until about 14 weeks. AND on the 14 week old fetus, you could actually make out its facial features....it was incredible.They also had a lady that was 4 months pregnant, and had her uterus slightly opened so that you could see the baby inside...it was weird and wonderful all at the same time. The very last part that Keith and I looked at was where they had taken fetuses and injected a calcifying dye into them (so it would turn any bone to a bright red)...then they had all different stages of development so that you could see when the different bones actually develop.
Overall, Keith and I loved the exhibit. We highly recommend anyone that gets the chance to go and see it....GO!!!! You will not be disappointed.

I knew you would love it!!! We thought it was super cool how they presented the reproductive system too! I loved seeing the tiny bones in the forming fetus.... simply amazing!!!
