Parade and Ball

On Friday (the day of the parade and ball), we woke up, went and picked up the boys' tuxes, and went to lunch with Dad's room. (The Mardi Gras Org is one huge group that is broken up into numerous rooms...Dad's room is Room H). Anyways, after lunch, we went walking around downtown Mobile...ducking into a few Mardi Gras specialty stores.

Then we went back to the house to pack things up for the evening. We went downtown to the hotel at about 4:30 and hung out until the beginning of the parade at 6:30. At the parade, we got pelted with beads, beads and more beads. I had made a sign that read, "Remember Rat" and it pretty much got demolished because so much stuff was thrown at it.

After the parade had past us, we all went back to the room and started to get ready. Mom and Amy headed over alittle earlier than the rest of us, but we were able to get there in plenty of time. Once inside, we had VIP tickets...meaning that we could sit in the floor grandstands instead of the second floor balcony during callouts. (It is just wear all the maskers and their dates come out and bow to the queen and dance across the main floor.) After callouts, we headed to find Amy and Mom in Dad's room...each room has an open bar and food galore. We ate, drank and had a great time. There were also numerous bands and DJs playing all kinds of music...so we danced the night away.

We ended up leaving the ball at about 1:30 and getting back to the house by about 2:30am. We all crashed and slept in on Saturday morning. Then, Keith, Kate, Aaron and I went over to the Caton's house to eat brunch and pick up Kade (they had kept him for us during the ball.)

We all had such a great time at the ball that we did NOTHING on Saturday!!! Just hung out and relaxed!!!
